“Dear Mister Grinch, You’re a Mean one!”

how-the-grinch-stole-christmas-7

Here is the reality! A majority of … your brothers and sisters in Christ—through no fault of their own, live in cruel poverty. They are trapped by social, political, and economic systems that make them prisoners of poverty. Because we are told in scripture that there is “enough and to spare” on Earth, poverty is not ethically or spiritually acceptable. – Steve Veazey, President, Community of Christ

Dear Mister Cruz, Mister Trump, Mister All Republican Governors (except Governor Herbert of Utah, he’s trying to do the right thing) who don’t want Syrian Refugees in their states, Mister One (so far) Democratic Governor who doesn’t want Syrian Refugees in his state, Mister All (but 2) Republican and 47 Democratic Congressional Representatives who voted to block Syrian Refugees from entering the US, Mister All Senators who plan on voting to block Syrian Refugees from entering the US, and Dear Mister Anyone who wants Syrian (or other) refugees to be blocked from entering the United States of America, sometimes called, “The Land of Liberty”, “The Land of Opportunity”, and yes, even “The Promised Land”;

Since most of you claim to be “Christian”, and since most of you will soon be celebrating the “Christmas Season” (and fretting about the “War on Christmas” no doubt), PLEASE do me a favor and go and watch the 1966 Dr Seuss (and Boris Karloff) Classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.  Why do you ask?  BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL THE DAMN GRINCH! Now learn the dang it all lesson and let your hearts grow a few sizes like the Grinch did!

You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch,…
Your heart’s an empty hole!…
You have all the tender sweetness
Of a seasick crocodile,
Mr. Grinch.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Citizen.

PS – I fully realize that many of the individuals that I am addressing are women, but please, forgive me, I’m obviously running with a “Mister” Grinch theme here.

  1. Amen! Thank you for this Andrew. It needed to be said, and I appreciate that you did it with more humor and grace than I would have.
